The England international forward wants to fully recover from an injury that kept him out of under-21 European championship.
Greenwood has been positive for the United side and became a regular starter in the team last season.
Ole Gunner Solskjaer managed the academy graduate in last season as the forward contributed in the Premier League and Europa League.
Greenwood will remain at United as he will continue is fitness recovery and prepare for the Pre season.
