Bucks in Talks with Doc Rivers for Head-Coaching Job

The Milwaukee Bucks are currently in negotiations with seasoned NBA figure Doc Rivers for their head-coaching position, sources reveal. The move comes as the Bucks seek an experienced leader to elevate their championship aspirations.

In a surprising move, the Milwaukee Bucks have parted ways with head coach Adrian Griffin after just 43 games into his tenure. Despite holding the second-best record in the Eastern Conference, the Bucks are on the hunt for an upgrade, leading them to reach out to seasoned NBA figure Doc Rivers.

Rivers, a former NBA champion coach with the Boston Celtics in 2008, and most recently an analyst with ESPN, is now engaged in discussions with the Bucks regarding the head-coaching position. The team’s decision to let go of Griffin stems from concerns about defensive efficiency, dropping from fourth to 22nd compared to the previous season.

The interim coaching role falls to Joe Prunty, who assumes this position for the third time in his career, having stepped in before following the firing of Jason Kidd in 2018. Griffin’s record of 30-13 (.698) was commendable, but the organization’s quest for an immediate championship contention has prompted this swift change.

General manager Jon Horst, while expressing confidence in Griffin’s potential, ultimately lost faith in the coach’s ability to deliver within the tight championship window.

The Bucks see Rivers, with his 25 years of coaching experience, as the ideal candidate to lead the team to success. Rivers, 62, also has a personal connection to Milwaukee, having been an All-American at Marquette University.

As the coaching saga unfolds, the Bucks are eager to secure a seasoned leader to guide their veteran star-studded roster to championship glory.
