Magic to host 4,000 fans

The Orlando Magic will have a limited capacity of approximately 4,000 physically-distanced fans for the 2020-2021 NBA season, the team announced.

The Magic’s preseason games will be open to family members of the organization during an evaluation phase.

The first five regular season games at the team’s Amway Center are expected to have a “lesser capacity” in order to allow fans to get accustomed to the health and safety protocols in place.

Those protocols include the following:

  • Physically-distanced seating
  • Mandatory face coverings
  • Pre-arrival symptom and exposure survey
  • Testing for those in-close proximity to the court
  • Deep and constant cleaning in high-traffic areas of the building with disinfectant, including on point of purchase devices, door handles, elevator buttons, escalator handrails, and restrooms
  • The addition of hand sanitizer stations throughout the arena
  • To reduce contamination, a no-bag policy will be implemented (only exceptions will be medical and parent bags, which will go through an X-ray machine at designated locations upon entry into Amway Center)

The Amway Center also has implemented several other health and sanitization upgrades.

The Magic are just one of five NBA teams that are planning on having fans for the upcoming season, joining the Utah Jazz, Memphis Grizzlies, New Orleans Pelicans and Houston Rockets.
