Real Madrid came back from 2 goals down to defeat Sevilla in La Liga as Carlo Ancelotti takes the blame for a shabby first half.
Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti takes blame for the performance of his side in the first half against Sevilla in La Liga.
The League Leaders came back from 2 goals down to win 3-2 in the second half of the game and the manager hails the quality of the players for that.
Second half substitute Rodrygo scored four minutes after he came on before Fernandez scored to level in the 82nd minutes of the game.
The League leaders continue their hard fight in the game until Karim Benzema scored a late minute winner to claim all three points in the game.
Ancelotti while speaking at the post-match conference said somethings were not right in the first half of the game.
The former Everton manager insists they managed to fix somethings in the second half and also kept their heads up in other to claim three points.
“The first half performance was the coach’s fault and the second half was down to the players’ quality”, Ancelotti said. We didn’t lose our heads. We put a few things right that weren’t going well in the first half.
“We weren’t solid enough when it came to recovery in the first half. They probed two or three times in transition and our possession wasn’t right. We fixed two or three things”.
“In the first half we looked a tired team and then the intensity in the second half was amazing. Sometimes in football you can’t put your finger on these things. I also don’t understand the interpretation of Diego Carlos’ handball and Vinicius’ handball.
“It’s difficult to comprehend our first-half performance and subsequently the second half as we played with a high level of intensity, concentration and a great attitude. Nothing surprises me about this team. I’m very proud of this second-half performance. I must thank all the players for that”.
Rodrygo score the first goal for Real Madrid to boost their come back and Ancelotti hails the second half substitute’s impact on the game.
“The stats show he makes a big impact. Rodrygo is going to be a fantastic player and he’ll be that from the start too. He’s made the difference time and again, just as Camavinga has when he’s come on. We work towards them both making the difference. Rodrygo produced an incredible second half display”.
Real Madrid leads the La Liga League table with 15 points with Xavi’s Barcelona having 2 games at hand.
