Day Five of NBA Preseason: Under the radar players who stood out
Tuesday night only consisted of three NBA Preseason games, but brought out quite the excitement. Sacramento’s Kyle Guy hit a game winning three-pointer at the buzzer.
Payton Pritchard: The Celtics rookie looked very confident in his first game. Scored the ball in different ways and showed off his handle. 16 points, 2 3’s
Robert Williams: Williams is hoping to have a big season for the Celtics. His career field goal percentage is an impressive 71.9% and brings nice shot blocking abilities. 8 points, 6 rebounds
Javonte Green: Green started for Boston on Tuesday and ran the floor hard. A confident athlete who makes the most of his minutes. 7 points, 3-4 FG
Aaron Nesmith: Boston rookie who’s known for his three-point shot out of Vanderbilt. Crashed the boards last night and displayed his versatility. 8 points, 5 rebounds
Jeff Teague: Teague can easily still be a starting point guard in the NBA. 32-year-old who’s a polished scorer and playmaker. 18 points, 4 3’s
Tacko Fall: The big man only played 10 minutes on Tuesday, but had some nice moments. Fall now enters his second season with the Celtics. 5 points, 3 rebounds
Shake Milton: Milton brings starter playoff minutes back to Philly this season. Had a nice scoring stretch yesterday in action vs. Boston. 19 points, 3 3’s
Tyrese Maxey: The rookie handled the ball very well last night. Made some smart plays off the pick & roll. 8 points, 3 assists
Lonnie Walker: Walker looks ready to have a big season in 2021. Production should go way up with more minutes. 17 points, 3 3’s
Jakob Poeltl: Big man who can play different roles. Former lottery pick who is a good rebounder and shot blocker. 4 points, 4 rebounds
Drew Eubanks: Eubanks had some nice moments last year for the Spurs. Brings good strength and rebounding. 4 points, 3 rebounds
Devin Vassell: The Spurs made a great selection this year with the #11 pick. Scoring and defense are already very polished. 11 points, 4 steals
Ben McLemore: McLemore has shot the ball great so far. Trusted player off the Rockets bench. 15 points, 2 3’s
Bruno Caboclo: Bruno displayed his versatility on the defensive end last night. Shot blocking stood out. 7 points, 4 blocks
Jae’Sean Tate: Coach Stephen Silas has liked Tate’s game early on. Took the ball off the glass for a spin move coast to coast. 11 points, 7 rebounds
Jerian Grant: Grant has NBA experience dating back to 2015. Ball handling and passing skills can help Houston when called on. 7 points, 2 assists
David Nwaba: Ran the fast break with energy on Tuesday. Another guy off the bench Houston can turn to. 6 points, 3 rebounds
Kyle Guy: Guy shot the ball lights out from deep against Golden State. Hit the game winning shot for the Kings as time expired. 20 points, 6 3’s
Richaun Holmes: Holmes has improved every year he’s been in the league. Put up career highs last year for the Kings. 8 points, 7 rebounds
Marquese Chriss: Chriss put up career numbers for the Warriors in 2020. Energy guy off the Warriors bench. 17 points, 9 rebounds
Brad Wanamaker: Wanamaker brings winning experience over from Boston. Gives the Warriors a playmaker off the bench. 10 points, 5 rebounds
Kent Bazemore: Bazemore always plays hard and brings energy. Can help the Warriors with his versatility. 7 points, 5 rebounds
Damion Lee: Lee had a nice dunk on the fast break against the Kings. Can be relied on in different ways when needed. 7 points, 2 assists
Nico Mannion: The Golden State rookie didn’t shoot it well, but made some quality assists. His defense stood out last night as well. 4 assists, 2 steals
