Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has reacted to the defeat against Leicester in the Community Shield.
Leicester grabbed a late winner against the Etihad side on Saturday with a late minute penalty from Nigerian player Kelechi Iheanacho.
The Spaniard, despite the defeat was proud of the performance of his players in the game especially the young lads.
Guardiola stated that he would have love to win the game but things turned around as the Premier League holder’s plan didn’t fall through.
On the players performance
While speaking with the media after the game Guardiola said: “I would have loved to have won the game,” admitted Pep.
“Congratulations to Leicester for the Community Shield victory. Our performance was really, really good, especially for this stage of the season and the way we played in the second half was so good.
“The game was well played. They had chances, we had chances and in the second we were so good.”
On lack of proper preparation.
The former Barcelona manager expects his some of his players to arrive for the preparation of the Premier League.
He further stated that the UEFA and FIFA didn’t give much time for players and managers to rest but insists they will try their best.
“We will arrive like it happened like last season, late,” he said.
“Because UEFA and FIFA are not allowed to give time to the managers and players to rest.
“Tomorrow, players will arrive. Many of our players have played just three training sessions. Day by day, month by month we try our best to compete as best as possible.”
Former Aston Villa player Jack Grealish was also involved in the game against Leicester as the manager took time to credit the performance of the England forward.
