Manchester United interim manager claims it was disappointing introducing the boy in the defeat.

“Normally it’s better to give a player like him a debut when you’re 3-0 up but we haven’t been 3-0 up so often this season”, Rangnick said.

“That’s why I decided to play him for the last 10 minutes. He was a little maybe overly motivated in those two moments but I think the referee had the right feeling not to send him off.”

Club stalwart Antonio Valencia led the accolades, saying: “Today I’m feel(ing) proud of this boy.”

Another fan account said: “19 year old Hannibal Mejbri showed more fight, bottle, energy and attitude in 10 minutes than the rest of this team has all season.”

More added similar thoughts: “Hannibal Mejbri, 19 years old. Comes on in the 84th minute and gets stuck in while the ‘senior players’ walked about for 90 minutes. MOTM for me.”

Another said: “United’s MOTM Hannibal Mejbri. The kid showed more fight in 5 minutes than the rest of them put together in 93 minutes.”

A fourth tweeted: “Sad indication of how poor we are is Hannibal Mejbri was our man of the match and he only played for about 8 minutes. #LIVMUN,’ with one simply saying: “Man Utd’s best player tonight: Hannibal Mejbri,”.
