Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp hails the contribution of club captain Van Dijk.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has praise club captain Virgil Van Dijk with his contribution to the team.
The Reds miss the Dutch man to injury last season which made the drop a little bit of confidence at the back.
Klopp who stated he didn’t like to talk about last season’s Van Dijk injury disappointment admit he is happy to have him back.
The Reds got three points against Burnley in the second game of the Premier League as goals from Jota and Mane did justice.
While speaking with the media about after the game the German said: “it is really helpful. The package of Virgil van Dijk is really helpful”, Klopp said.
“He was for sure in moments on the edge today, not physically, not in a dangerous way, just the intensity of the game was incredible – especially for the centre-halves.
“For today it was fine but it was a proper test for the centre-halves and a proper test for Virgil today. He passed it and all good.”
The manager also hails his full backs Alexander-Arnold and Kostas Tsimikas for their performance in the game.
“Both full-backs had a good game”, he added. “Both spectacular, if you want, with two nice [assists] – Kostas with the cross and Trent with the little cheeky curve ball or whatever for Sadio. It was a good game.
“I cannot remember a high-press situation, it is just not possible, at least it was not possible today. But the full-backs were really good, which helped us to win the game.”
