“Mason is fit enough to play; he was on the bench. Luke [Shaw] came off with an injury, that had to be done, Edinson [Cavani] has been out for a while, I needed to get him going and Bruno [Fernandes] is one that I also have to protect. It just wasn’t to be for Mason to come on. He will be in the squad unless something happens in the next couple of days, yeah.”

Jesse was not in the squad against Leeds United and hasn’t played since September but Ole said he is working really hard and he might get a recall into the squad against Everton on Wednesday.

“Jesse will be in the squad. He’s been working hard in training. He’s been unfortunate with having to isolate a few times. He’s been a close contact with a COVID [positive person], not even having it himself. He’s been very unlucky being away from the training ground a few times. He’s been working really hard and he’ll be involved in the squad definitely on Wednesday.”

On the other hand, Dean Henderson, Nemanja Matic, Paul Pogba and Mason Greenwood were given a rest at the weekend after featuring in the 3-2 win at Sheffield United, but they are also heavily involved in training.

Eric Bailly, Tim Fosu-Mensah, Odion Ighalo, Juan Mata, Axel Tuanzebe and Brandon Williams were on the training ground, providing the Reds manager plenty of option in terms of players to face the Toffees.
