Paul George: My new contract isn’t meant to force Kawhi Leonard’s hand

Los Angeles Clippers small forward Paul George speaks to reporters about his new contract with the Clippers, and what it means for his teammate Kawhi Leonard. ESPN’s sports analyst Brian Windhorst then joins SportsCenter to discuss the deal, as well as the latest on guard James Harden.

Paul George is already set to make $35.4 million in 2020-21, and his new deal – worth roughly $190 million in total – will now tack on an additional four years to his contract, tying him to the Clippers through at least 2023-24 season.

George averaged 21.5 points on a career-high 41.2% shooting, 5.7 rebounds, and 3.9 assists in the regular season. He averaged 18.5 points on 34.7% in the Clippers’ first-round series against the Dallas Mavericks and attributed that partly to struggles with mental health.
