Manchester City Manager Pep Guardiola says the responsibility of goal scoring rest on the and not just his striking duo (Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus) and does not believe he needs to sign other forwards to change things in front of goal, though he didn’t shy away from the fact that his attackers need to improve.
“Everybody knows it but it doesn’t depend on one specific player. Everyone can score, it depends on the mentality and the desire.”
The former Bayern Munich manager made it clear that his side needs to bring changes to their playing style and simply wants his players to remain aggressive in attack and focus on creating as many chances as possible.
“The only thing is to insist, be positive and one day it will break.
“Be aggressive, put more players there and when we are able to score goals and win games the confidence will be back.
Manchester City will be playing Southampton in the Premier league and 49 old said he is not certain whether Sergio Aguero will be available against the Saints but said there were positive signs in their last training session.
Aguero featured in the final 14 minutes 1-1 draw with West Brom, his second appearance off the bench, his fitness has been managed cautiously since he suffered a hamstring injury earlier this season following his return from knee surgery.
“I don’t know,” said Guardiola when asked if Aguero is ready for the trip to the South Coast.
“After the game he could not train. Yesterday no training, today he trained really well, but I don’t know how many minutes he can play.
“It’s important he makes training sessions but after the game he could not. It wasn’t the knee, it was another area.”
When asked if City had any other injury concerns, Guardiola said: “No, we train today. That’s all I can say.”
The City boss also ruled out resting Kevin De Bruyne at St Mary’s.
De Bruyne has played every minute of their previous seven Premier League games and Guardiola said that he is set to continue on Saturday despite the upcoming busy festive period.
“No, he is so important for us right now that he won’t rest,” added the boss.
“He rested in the Champions League. Right now, we need him.”
