Pinnick hails referee’s decision to overturn Super Eagles penalty
Amaju Pinnick has hails the referee for overturning the penaty decision in the Nigeria versus Ghana game as he insists they have no problem with the officiating.
The president of the Nigeria Football Federation Amaju Pinnick hails the decision of the referee to overturn the penalty given to Super Eagles against Ghana.
The Nigeria Super Eagles played 0-0 draw against Ghana in the World cup qualifier at Baba Yara Stadium in Ghana.
It would have seemed like the Nigerian team would have got a late penalty in the game but was overturned for a foul against Super Eagles.
The referee award a penalty for the Super Eagles before he was called by the Video assistant referee ( VAR) and it was overturned.
Speaking after the game in Ghana Pinnick believes that the referee made the right call to overturn the penalty for a foul for Ghana.
He added that the that they have no problem with the officiating and inisists that the Super Eagles will beat Ghana in the return leg.
“I think the referee did well. It was a correct call. The Nigerian player pushed Baba Iddrisu and that made him touched the ball,” Pinnick stated on Akoma FM.
“We have no problem with officiating. However, will win convincingly at home. Our team is better but we were unfortunate today. Football is football.”
Nigeria will host Ghana in the return leg of the World cup qualifier at the Moshood Abiola stadium in Abuja on Tuesday.
The return leg will determine the team that will represent African between Nigeria and Ghana in the World Cup in Qatar.
