Los Angeles Lakers, without LeBron James and Anthony Davis, secured a 114-105 victory over the Boston Celtics, fueled by Austin Reaves’ remarkable seven 3-pointers.

In a surprising turn of events, the Los Angeles Lakers, missing their star players LeBron James and Anthony Davis, secured a remarkable 114-105 victory against the Boston Celtics on Thursday night.

Austin Reaves stepped into the spotlight, scoring a season-high 32 points and sinking a career-high seven 3-pointers. The Lakers, fueled by their young roster, showcased resilience and determination, hitting an impressive 19 of 36 3-point attempts.

The absence of James, sidelined due to a left ankle injury, and Davis, dealing with an Achilles tendon issue and left hip spasms, raised doubts about the Lakers’ ability to compete against the NBA-leading Celtics. However, Reaves and the supporting cast rose to the occasion, emphasizing their talent and unity.

D’Angelo Russell contributed significantly with 16 points, 14 assists, and eight rebounds, while Jaxson Hayes posted a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. The Lakers’ defensive efforts were notable, holding off the Celtics and ending a two-game losing streak.

The Celtics, led by Jayson Tatum’s 23 points, faced challenges with 15 turnovers and struggled to narrow the gap in the fourth quarter. Despite a 12-2 run and Tatum’s electrifying efforts, Boston couldn’t overcome the Lakers’ resilience.

Jarred Vanderbilt, who had a productive 16-minute stint with 10 points, seven rebounds, and three steals, left the game in the final minute of the first half due to right foot soreness. The Lakers’ victory marked the first game this season in which both James and Davis sat out, highlighting the team’s depth and ability to step up in their absence.

Looking ahead, the Lakers, currently in ninth place in the Western Conference standings, face uncertainties regarding the duration of James and Davis’ absence.

Reaves emphasized the team’s commitment to continue competing at a high level upon their return, echoing James’ recent directive to “go out and do your job.” The Lakers’ unexpected triumph against the Celtics stands as a testament to the team’s collective effort and determination in the face of adversity.
