Russell Westbrook plans to bring ‘leadership’ to the Wizards

Point guard Russell Westbrook chats with the media about his transition from the Houston Rockets to the Washington Wizards, shares what he believes is misunderstood about him, what a good culture looks like on a team, and talks about what it is going to be like to play again for head coach Scott Brooks.

Westbrook averaged 27.2 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 7.0 assists during his lone season with the Rockets in 2019-20.

9× NBA All-Star signed a five-year, $206 million contract extension with the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2017 while coming off an MVP season.

He has three years, $132 million remaining on that contract. The final year of that deal is a player option worth $47 million in the 2022-23 season.
