Scott McTominay send Ten Hag message with brace
Scott McTominay scored brace for Scotland against Spain to help his side with the victory.
Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay has send a clear message to Erik Ten Hag with his brace against Spain last night.
The Scotland national team breezed past the Spanish team to move to the top of the table.
McTominay scored in both half of the game to help his side with two win in two matches.
So much for holding midfielder, the Manchester United man took his tally to four goals inside an hour of international football following his late double in Saturday’s 3-0 win over Cyprus.
‘As a kid, I was an attacking midfielder – I like to get in the box. I’ve got to keep doing that, I know I can add more goals and assists to my game,’ said the 26-year-old.
‘Look at this place – I’ve never seen anything like it, incredible. The manager said this is our chance to create legacies as Scotland players and these are the nights in 20, 30 years that people remember. We can’t thank the fans enough.’
Clarke had told his players to shed their underdog mentality against a Spain team unbeaten in 19 European qualifiers. It turns out the Scots have even more bite when on the prowl as top dogs.
And so it was that, for the first time since 2006 when defeating France, Scotland sunk their teeth into what would be considered one of the game’s leading nations, at least in historical terms.
