Updated FIBA Men’s World Rankings
The FIBA Men’s World Rankings have been updated after the second window of the FIBA Continental Cup Qualifiers.
The only change in the top 10 was Russia and Czech Republic switching spots, as Russia moved up two spots to No. 9 and Czech Republic fell two spots to No. 11.
Czech Republic suffered losses to lower-ranked Belgium and Denmark in the FIBA EuroBasket 2022 Qualifiers.
EuroBasket 2017 champion Slovenia climbed one spot to No. 16 after winning two games to improve to 3-1 in Group F of the Qualifiers after wins over Austria and Ukraine.
Israel moved up two spots to No. 39 after getting wins against Spain and Poland in Group A to secure their birth at the FIBA EuroBasket 2022.
Syria and Saudi Arabia were the biggest risers in Asia, each moving up five spots to No. 90 and No. 91, respectively.
Both teams went 1-1 in Group E.
Bahrain moved up five spots to No. 107 after qualifying for the FIBA Asia Cup 2021 with wins against Iraq and India.
South Sudan, coached by longtime NBA player and federation president Luol Deng, was the biggest riser in the rankings, moving up nine spots to No. 98 after going 2-1 in group play of the FIBA AfroBasket 2021 Qualifiers.
Kenya was the second biggest riser in the rankings, moving up seven spots to No. 115.
Uganda broke into the top 100 moving up four spots from No. 101 to No. 97 after going 2-1 in Group E.
Madagascar suffered the biggest drop in the rankings, plummeting 30 spots from No. 104 to No. 134 after three losses to Tunisia, Central African Republic and Democratic Republic of Congo by a combined 71 points.
National teams will return to the court in February 2021 for the last window of each FIBA Continental Cup Qualifiers.
