Aston Villa is set to miss out on former Liverpool star as report states he will return to South America.
Aston Villa have suffered a blow as former Liverpool star Luis Suarez is set to return to South America.
Suarez has been strongly linked with a move to join ex-Reds captain Steven Gerrard at Villa Park, with the striker set to depart Atletico Madrid.
However, it appears the Uruguayan will pass up the chance to move back to the Premier League.
Present of River Plate, Jorge Brito, has revealed talks with Suarez over a move to the Argentine giants.
River Plate are seeking a new striker after losing wonderkid Julian Alvarez – who scored 14 goals in 17 games this year to Man City.
And Brito has revealed talks have already happened with Suarez in Paris over a move, also sharing that they are willing to offer him wages of around £4.2million-a-year to encourage him to sign.
“The talks [with Suarez] are taking place and I think the first one was in Paris”, he told Radio La Red.
“River is willing to make a significant economic effort so that Luis Suarez is the replacement for Julian Alvarez. It is the dream of Gallardo and the leadership.
“There were already talks with the Uruguayan. It’s difficult but Suarez didn’t close the door at all.”
