Man City closing in on Gvardiol deal
Reports suggest Man City is nearing a deal for highly sought-after defender Josko Gvardiol. The Premier League champions are advancing on personal terms with the 21-year-old Croatian, while RB Leipzig may agree to his departure if their asking price is met.
In-demand defender Josko Gvardiol is reportedly nearing a move to Manchester City. The 21-year-old Croatian has long been linked with a transfer to an elite club, but RB Leipzig has been reluctant to let him go.
However, it seems that the German side is now ready to cash in on the highly-rated center-back, with the Premier League champions poised to secure his signature.
Renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano reveals that City is making progress in their pursuit of Gvardiol.
Talks regarding personal terms are reportedly advancing well, but Leipzig will only agree to his departure if their substantial asking price is met. Otherwise, they may opt to retain him for another season.
Additionally, Romano suggests that Gvardiol could be joined at Manchester City by his international teammate Mateo Kovacic.
The midfielder, who has one year remaining on his contract with Chelsea, is reportedly deemed surplus to requirements by the Blues. City is engaged in deep discussions with Kovacic as they seek to strengthen their squad.
