Raphinha Brace Secures Supercopa Glory for Flick’s Barça
Raphinha decisive goal secures Supercopa for the Catalan club following and intense match.
Barcelona claimed the first silverware of the 2025–26 season on Sunday night, defeating arch-rivals Real Madrid 3-2 in a pulsating Spanish Supercopa final in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The victory marks the fourth trophy of the Hansi Flick era and extends the Catalans’ record in the competition to 16 titles.
The match exploded into life late in the first half after Raphinha opened the scoring in the 36th minute. A frantic period of stoppage time followed, featuring goals from Vinícius Júnior, Robert Lewandowski, and Gonzalo García, leaving the sides level at the break. However, the Brazilian winger secured the win in the 73rd minute with a deflected effort. Flick was quick to praise his star man’s resilience, noting: “His mentality is unbelievable. He has a dynamic, which affects the whole team.”
The 29-year-old’s resurgence has been a cornerstone of Barcelona’s current form. Since returning from a calf injury in late November, he has netted eight goals in ten appearances. Raphinha credited his manager for the turnaround, admitting, “[Flick] was the person that changed everything for me here. I had one foot out of the club when he was appointed.” He added that the German’s faith was vital: “The importance of him speaking with me, telling me I would be important… that’s what you need.”
With ten consecutive wins in all competitions, the LaLiga leaders appear unstoppable. Despite the trophy win, Raphinha insisted the squad is hungry for a treble. “When you wear this shirt, the main objective is always to win trophies,” he said, emphasizing that while they have the potential to dominate, “It depends more on us than others.”
