Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus Set for MRI After Groin Injury
Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus is set to undergo an MRI scan after suffering a groin injury in training, sparking fears of a potential spell on the sidelines.
Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus is set to undergo an MRI scan after suffering a groin injury during training, raising concerns about a possible spell on the sidelines.
The Brazilian forward missed Arsenal’s 2-0 victory over Aston Villa on Saturday, and the club is anxiously awaiting the results of the scan to determine the severity of the injury.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta revealed the situation during a press conference, stating, “Unfortunately on Thursday in the training session, just at the end he felt something in his groin.
We’ll need to assess him. We need to have an MRI scan to see, but he wasn’t available for the game. We have to see [if it is a long-term injury]. Probably tomorrow or Monday we’ll have the results to see if it’s a matter of days or weeks. We don’t know.”
The potential impact of Jesus’ injury extends beyond the immediate squad, with speculation surrounding Eddie Nketiah’s future at the club. Arsenal has been in negotiations with Nottingham Forest over a deal for Nketiah, reportedly valued at £30 million plus bonuses.
However, Arteta emphasized that Nketiah remains an integral part of the team for now. “At the moment, Eddie is our player.
He’s very committed to us. Regardless of the noise, he’s here and he wants to be here with us. He’s really happy that we won the game.”
Arsenal secured the win at Villa Park with second-half goals from Leandro Trossard and Thomas Partey. The victory was further highlighted by a stunning save from goalkeeper David Raya, denying Ollie Watkins and ensuring the Gunners maintained their momentum in the Premier League.
