Mikel Arteta has suggested Arsenal will look to bring in another attacker this month as Gabriel Jesus is been sidelined.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has stated that the club will look to bring in new attacker to the team following the long injury of main striker Gabriel Jesus.

The Brazilian has been sidelined since he represented his country side in the World Cup in Qatar and this has been a big blow for thr Gunners.

Arsenal youngsster Eddie Nketiah has step in the shoes and has been utilized in the absence of the former Manchester City man.

Eddie Nketiah scored twice in Arsenal’s 3-0 FA Cup win over Oxford last night but with Jesus out for several weeks, Arteta admits he needs more options.

Speaking on the issue the team is facing, Arteta said: “The problem is we have only one striker! And to go for that many months til Jesus is back is not easy.

“But we have to get the most out of the players that we have at the moment and if we can have some reinforcements – great.

On Nketiah, Arteta added: “He’s been waiting for this moment. He’s been patient and he’s had the right mindset to prepare himself for this moment. And that’s why I think he looks ready and is performing the way he’s performing.

“He is a great finisher and the timing of his runs as well. The decision making to wait to the last moment shows his quality.

“It’s not only that – his understanding, his work rate I think is getting better and better. And I’m really happy with him.”

Arsenal held ‘direct talks’ with Shakhtar Donetsk over Mkhaylo Mudryk.
