Mikel Arteta will not use absence of stars as an excuse for defeat against Brentford.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has stated that the absence of Aubameyang and Lacazette is noy an excuse for defeat.

The Gunners team were trashed 2-0 by newly promoted side in the start of the Premier League last night.

Arteta who admitted he was disappointed with the performance of his team still would use the absence of his star men as an excuse.

The Spaniard when asked about club captain Aubameyang and Lacazette after the game he said: “I certainly don’t want to use any excuses. We had a team that we put out that’s good enough to play the way that we wanted to play and capable of achieving a different result.”

He further stated that he is disappointed on how they started this season but insists he needs to focus on his players.

“We are very disappointed to start the way we did this season”, He added. We had really high hopes and we didn’t get the result that we wanted or the performance we wanted.

“My focus is on the players that we have – to make them play as well as possible and get the best out of the team, finding the way to win football matches, and certainly the next one.”
