Brandon Roy wants Carmelo Anthony to wear No.7 with the Blazers

Brandon Roy said he wants Carmelo Anthony to wear No.7 with the Portland Trail Blazers this season.

Roy, a Blazers legend, admitted he would be honored if Anthony wore his number.

“I would be honored if he wore it. So we should (let him have it). I asked Melo if my cousin, who was sick from cancer, could shake his hand and take a picture with him. “He said, ‘Of course.’ Made her night. He was her favorite player,” Roy said about Anthony in an interview with Jason Quick of The Athletic.

Roy appeared in 295 games with the Blazers, averaging 19.0 points, 4.3 rebounds and 4.7 assists.

For his part, Anthony, who wore No.0 last season, averaged 15.4 points, 6.3 boards and 1.5 assists.
