Philadelphia 76ers’ Joel Embiid, undeterred by potential MVP eligibility challenges, stoically declares, “So be it,” signaling a focus on team success over personal accolades.

Philadelphia 76ers’ star Joel Embiid made a triumphant return from injury, scoring 41 points and grabbing 10 rebounds in a 124-115 victory over the Houston Rockets on Monday.

His remarkable feat of 17 consecutive games with 30 points set a franchise record, while his seventh 40-point double-double this season leads the NBA. Despite his outstanding performance, Embiid’s MVP candidacy is at risk due to multiple recent absences; he can miss only eight more games to remain eligible.

Embiid, a pivotal figure for the 76ers’ playoff aspirations, emphasized the importance of maintaining his health throughout the season.

The new collective bargaining agreement mandates players to participate in 65 regular-season games for MVP or All-NBA consideration, a threshold Embiid has met only twice in his eight-season NBA career.

Addressing concerns about his MVP eligibility, Embiid expressed a balanced approach, emphasizing the significance of team success alongside personal achievements.

The 29-year-old acknowledged his past accomplishments and asserted his commitment to letting his game speak for itself.

In his absence, the 76ers struggled, highlighting Embiid’s crucial role in their success.

His return showcased his dominance on the court, contributing significantly to the team’s 22-6 record with him in the lineup this season.

Looking ahead, Embiid downplayed any personal rivalry with two-time MVP Nikola Jokic in an upcoming matchup against the Denver Nuggets. Instead, he emphasized the focus on the team’s performance and the challenge of facing the reigning champions.

As Embiid gears up for his 29th game of the season against the Denver Nuggets, the spotlight remains on his health and the impact he can have on the 76ers’ quest for a deep playoff run.
