Players who earn so much in their playing days suddenly go broke due to one problem or the other.

David James
David Benjamin James MBE is an English former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper.
James played for top clubs including Liverpool, Watford, Aston Villa, Manchester City, and West Ham.
In May 2014 James was declared bankrupt. Despite earning an estimated £20m from his footballing career, owning several properties and having a lucrative contract modeling for Armani, James’ debts had built up since his divorce from his wife, Tanya, in 2005.
Asamoah Gyan
Asamoah Gyan born 22 November 1985) is a Ghanaian professional footballer who last played as a striker for Legon Cities FC and is the former captain of the Ghana national team.
It was revealed in 2018 that 38-year-old former Premier League star Asamoah Gyan was reportedly broke and had just £600 (R830) in his bank account.
Emmanuel Eboue
Emmanuel Eboué born 4 June 1983 is an Ivorian former professional footballer who played as a right back.
He had three children with his Belgian wife, Aurélie, whom he married before joining Arsenal. In December 2017, Eboué told the Sunday Mirror that he is poor and homeless due to his divorce and bad investments that were under his former wife’s control.
Eric Djemba-Djemba
Eric Djemba-Djemba is a former Cameroonian footballer who played for several clubs, including Manchester United and Aston Villa. In 2016, he was declared bankrupt after his divorce from his wife, Rachel. The divorce reportedly cost Djemba-Djemba over £1 million, leading to financial difficulties.
