Footballers that suffered hearth issues while playing

We all know Football is a game you play with every of your strength and you have to be fit and healthy to be able to participate, here are some players that had heart problem while playing football.

 

Its really not a common thing in football for players to suffer heart problem while playing the game but it’s never impossible.

Players need their complete fitness to compete in this game because of the intensity and also the amount of energy you need to put into it.

Some of this famous players played through the pain of heart diseases or failure.

Nwankwo Kanu

Nwankwo Kanu is a former Nigerian footballer who played for in the National team along side players like Okocha, Taribo West and other, he also played in Europe with the Dutch side Ajax, Inter Milan of Italy, and English clubs Arsenal, West Bromwich Albion and Portsmouth.

He is one of few players to have won the Premier League, FA Cup, Champions League, UEFA Cup and an Olympic Gold Medal.

Kanu was born with a congenital heart defect which was discovered and operated on in 1996. Kanu’s own experience with a congenital heart defect moved him to set up the “Kanu Heart Foundation” in 2000.

Kun Aguero

Aguero, commonly known by his nickname ‘Kun’, began his career at Independiente in his native Argentina before moving to Europe in 2006 to sign for Atletico Madrid.

He won the Europa League during his time with the Spanish side and then moved to City in 2011.

Aguero won five Premier League titles in total with City, as well as one FA Cup and six League Cups, and is the English top flight’s all-time top-scoring foreign player.

old Sergio Aguero was diagnosed with a heart problem, the Barcelona and Argentina striker announced his retirement from football.

The announcement made at a tearful press conference.

Christian Eriksen

Christian Eriksen, who suffered a heart attack and collapsed while playing for his country against Finland at Euro 2020 in June.

Eriksen, of Inter Milan, was later fitted with a pacemaker but is not permitted to play in Serie A as a result.

Lilian Thuram

Lilian Thuram-Ulien is a French  former professional footballer who played as a defender.

His deal with Paris Saint-Germain in June 2008 was cancelled shortly after because he was diagnosed with a heart defect that had caused the death of his brother. On 2 August, he announced his final retirement from professional football due to his condition.

Marc-Vivian Foé

Marc-Vivien Foé was a Cameroonian professional footballer, who played as a defensive midfielder for both club and country.
In the 72nd minute of a match between Cameroon and Colombia, 26 June 2003, Foé collapsed in the centre circle with no other players near him. He died shortly afterwards. Autopsy concluded that Foé’s death was heart-related.
