Draymond Green Returns to Warriors After 12-Game Suspension
Golden State Warriors’ forward Draymond Green made a long-awaited comeback to the team facilities following his 12-game suspension, participating in a walk-through and gracing the bench during their recent game against the Toronto Raptors.
The NBA lifted Green’s indefinite ban, which originated from an incident where he struck center Jusuf Nurkic during a game against the Phoenix Suns on December 12.
Coach Steve Kerr expressed enthusiasm about Green’s return, highlighting his leadership role within the team and the positive energy accompanying his comeback.
Although Green, 33, was present on the bench and engaged in timeouts during the Warriors’ clash with the Raptors, the team suffered a 133-118 defeat.
Sources close to the situation informed ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski that Green is anticipated to take about a week to ramp up his preparations before returning to active gameplay.
Looking ahead, the Warriors face a challenging back-to-back on the road, meeting the Chicago Bulls on Friday and the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday, followed by a game against the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday.
Coach Kerr outlined Green’s routine, mentioning his daily work with trainer Rick Celebrini, involving shooting practice and scrimmages. However, Kerr remained uncertain about the specific timeline for Green’s complete return to action.
During Green’s absence, the Warriors managed a 7-5 record, navigating through a competitive stretch without one of their key figures on the court.
As Green resumes his training regimen, anticipation builds for his imminent return to bolster the Warriors’ lineup and contribute to their ongoing season campaign.
