Guardiola admit to trouble after injury scare
Pep Guardiola admit trouble ahead of Liverpool FA cup clash after key players suffers injury against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola admit his side are in trouble following their qualification into the semifinal in the Champions League against Atletico Madrid.
It was a tough match that ended in a tunnel brawl after a 0-0 draw in Madrid but Guardiola more concerned about his players and next game.
Manchester City will play last week Premier League opponent in the FA cup tie after their tough qualification in the Champions League.
Key player Kevin De Bruyne and Kyle Walker suffered injury against Diego Simeone Atletico Madrid.
Guardiola told BT Sport: “We are in big trouble, so we can’t forget we played three days ago, travelled, come here, have a lot of injuries now and I don’t know what will happen in the next weeks but today we celebrate because it is the third time in Manchester City’s history we are in the Champions League semi-finals.
“We cannot play all the time and score four or five goals, we are human beings – we come from a difficult game against Liverpool.”
De Bruyne, who has suffered his share of injuries in the past, appeared to suffer a muscular problem chasing after a ball.
He walked off the pitch as he was replaced and City will hope it is only a minor problem.
Walker landed heavily on his ankle and tried to play on but it soon became clear he was unable to continue.
City have 12 matches over the next six weeks and harbour ambitions of winning the FA Cup, Champions League and Premier League.
It seems unlikely that De Bruyne and Walker will be fit in time to face Liverpool this weekend, which could give the advantage to Jurgen Klopp’s men, many of whom were rested for the second leg draw with Benfica on Wednesday night.
City fans will be desperate for news that both players are only hampered by short-term problems and can contribute over the coming weeks.
