Jurgen Klopp feels pity for Manchester United situation as he insists he didn’t try to humilate his last night opponent.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp feels for last night opponent following their victory over Manchester United last night.

The Red Devils suffers a heavy defeat at Anfield last night as their chances of qualifying for the Champions League reduced.

Manchester United squad has been affected heavily with injuries with notable midfield players absent in the game.

Rangnick side played without Scott McTominay and Fred in the midfield and Paul Pogba was substituted early in the first half of the game due to injury.

The interim manager opted for a back three of Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire and Phil Jones but still conceded 2 goals in the first half of the game.

Jurgen Klopp while speaking after the match said he feels pity for Manchester United due to their situation.

He added that he is not trying to humiliate any opponent but insists they did what they have to do which was winning the game.

“I’m not here to humiliate opponents or whatever. That is absolutely not the reason. We did what we had to do and we won the games, that’s how it is. United is obviously in a difficult situation; look at the line-up tonight, they played without their centre-midfielders and I think McTominay was only here to show up, I don’t think he was ready probably.

“So, when you are already in a difficult situation, very often in life you get another knock – and that’s what United got already before the game, [then] in the game Paul [Pogba] has to go off.

Liverpool defeat Manchester United 5-0 in the first leg of the Premier League at Old Trafford.

Klopp insists he is not interested in the combination of the first leg and second leg score but rather wants the three points which he got.

“Then, come on, whether it is a derby or not it is not easy to play against us. That’s why the 9-0 I’m not interested [in].

“That’s really something for the supporters; if they want to celebrate 9-0 then they can do that, but it’s not for me.

“We wanted three points and if it would have been 1-0 twice I would feel exactly the same – and I know it will not last forever. They will strike back, they will be there again, this club is too powerful, but in the moment – for tonight – we were too good, that’s the truth.”

Liverpool moved to the top of the Premier League table following their victory though Manchester City are yet to play their game.
