Klopp: Last season not reason for dip in form
Liverpool are really not in good shape this season but Jurgen Klopp claims they are not affected by last season’s disappointment.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has stated that last season’s disappointment is not affecting the Reds this season.
Liverpool couldn’t get the Premier league on the last day despite winning as Manchester City came back from 2 goals down to claim the title.
The Reds also suffered defeat in the Champions League 1-0 victory to the Spanish side Real Madrid downed the Klopp’s men.
Liverpool suffers another defeat in the Premier League to League leaders Arsenal as Klopp’s men moved to 10th position on the league.
Speaking to the media after the game the German says he was disappointed with the result but insists the show positive signs.
“It was really bad start but started controlling the game, played a really good game against a very aggressive, full-of-confidence Arsenal side. But we really showed that we are here for a reason. We scored the equaliser, a wonderful goal, great play and open game, could go either way I think with advantages for us, more possession, more finishes, these kind of things”.
When asked if last year’s campaign was the reason why the team has dipped in form, Klopp said: “Quite a lot of people ask me that if we play how we play because last year we lost the two big trophies. It feels like it’s years ago. I don’t think it is the reason but I understand that you all out there think around all corners and try to find a reason. But things like this can happen”.
Klopp was asked if he has deeper concern for where the Reds are right now, the former Dortmund manager said: “Do I have deeper concerns? Yes, of course I am not happy – how can I? Your colleague told me now he knows me just happy all the time and making jokes – I’m not sure exactly which Jürgen Klopp he knows.
“But we are obviously neither in the mood for jokes, nor happy. We are in a tough moment and we want to get through this together and that’s what we are working on”.
