LaVar Ball was happy LaMelo wasn’t drafted by Golden State or Minnesota
During his recent appearance on the Club Shay Shay podcast hosted by the three-time Super Bowl Champion and Pro Football Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe, LaVar Ball, the Big Baller Brand co-founder and father of three basketball players: New Orleans Pelicans point guard Lonzo; Detroit Pistons shooting guard LiAngelo; and current Charlotte Hornets point guard LaMelo, said he was happy that the youngest of his three sons wasn’t drafted by the Golden State Warriors or Minnesota Timberwolves:
“LaMelo didn’t want to be in the cold or live in Minnesota. And as far as Golden State, I figured they already had their team with Steph and Klay.”
Last season, LaMelo played 12 games for the Illawarra Hawks of the Australian-based National Basketball League before suffering a foot injury. He averaged 17.0 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 6.8 assists per game.
