Luke Shaw’s Injury Status Uncertain, Ten Hag Offers Update
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag offers a cautious update on Luke Shaw’s injury following the defender’s first-half substitution in the victorious clash against Luton Town.
Manchester United secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Luton Town at Kenilworth Road, extending their unbeaten run in 2024. Rasmus Hojlund’s early brace set the tone, but the match also saw defender Luke Shaw substituted in the first half. Manager Erik ten Hag shed light on the decision, emphasizing it wasn’t due to a knock.
Shaw, who received a yellow card during the frenetic opening 45 minutes, was replaced by Victor Lindelof just before the break. Ten Hag, addressing concerns about Shaw’s condition, mentioned it wasn’t a result of a new injury but refrained from specifying the severity.
This substitution echoed a similar move in the previous match against Aston Villa, where Lindelof stepped in for Shaw. Despite working hard to be match-ready after his recovery, Shaw’s limited appearances this season – 14 in total – reflect his struggle with two separate injuries, sidelining him for a combined four months.
When pressed on the outlook for Shaw’s current situation, Ten Hag remained cautious, stating, “We have to wait until tomorrow to see what’s going on. Clear, when you come off, it doesn’t look great.”
Looking ahead, Manchester United prepares to face Fulham at Old Trafford next weekend, with fans eagerly anticipating updates on Shaw’s condition.
