Manchester United keen to Secure Liam Delap as Transfer Activity Heats Up
Manchester United are keen to secure the signing of Ipswich striker Liam Delap as the Red Devils seek to strengthen the attacking position.
Manchester United are on the brink of signing Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap, with sources confirming that the club has agreed on the framework of a deal. United have signaled their intent to trigger Delap’s £30 million ($40.6m) release clause, pending the 22-year-old’s decision to join Old Trafford. Personal terms with Delap’s representatives have also been outlined, suggesting a swift transfer could follow once the former Manchester City youngster commits.
Delap, who netted 12 Premier League goals in 36 appearances during Ipswich’s relegation season, moved to Portman Road last summer for up to £20 million. Despite interest from Chelsea and other clubs, United are moving quickly to secure his signature as part of an aggressive early transfer strategy.
The Red Devils are also close to finalizing their first summer signing, Wolves striker Matheus Cunha. United are prepared to meet his £62.5m release clause, with the Brazilian set to sign a five-year deal at the club. Additionally, United have expressed interest in Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo and Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze to bolster their attacking options.
On the outgoing front, Christian Eriksen, Victor Lindelöf, and Jonny Evans have been confirmed as the first departures this summer. United are also looking to offload Jadon Sancho, Anthony, and Marcus Rashford permanently. Rashford, whose loan at Aston Villa ended, is available for £40m and has expressed a desire to join Barcelona, where tentative interest was shown in January by the newly-crowned La Liga champions.
As the transfer window gains momentum, Manchester United are signaling a busy summer under new leadership, aiming to reshape the squad for the upcoming season.
