Manchester United’s Martínez Faces Two-Month Absence Due to Injur
Lisandro Martínez faces a significant setback as the defender is set to be sidelined for two months due to a knee injury sustained in Sunday’s clash with West Ham.
Manchester United’s Lisandro Martínez is facing a setback as the club confirms a two-month absence due to a knee injury sustained in a collision with Vladimír Coufal during Sunday’s 3-0 victory over West Ham.
Scans conducted on Monday revealed damage to the medial collateral ligament, ruling the Argentine defender out for a minimum of eight weeks.
Although fears of potential surgery initially loomed, a source informed the media that the relatively short recovery period is considered positive news for the club.
In a statement released on Monday, Manchester United expressed their wishes for a speedy recovery for Martínez and anticipate his return later in the season.
The timing of this injury proves unfortunate for manager Erik ten Hag, who had recently welcomed the 26-year-old back from a foot injury that had kept him sidelined since September.
Having missed over four months of action, Martínez managed to feature in the last three games before this setback.
However, he is now expected to be absent until at least after the March international break, posing a defensive challenge for Manchester United in the upcoming fixtures.
