Former NBA point guard Rajon Rondo, 37, faced legal troubles over the weekend in Indiana, where he was arrested for misdemeanor charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, drug paraphernalia, and marijuana.

The arrest occurred during a routine traffic stop in Jackson County when a trooper detected the smell of marijuana.

According to Indiana State Police spokesperson Sgt. Stephen Wheeles, a subsequent search revealed a firearm and drug paraphernalia in Rondo’s possession.

Notably, Rondo was not permitted to have a firearm due to a no-contact order against him. Following the arrest, Rondo was taken to a Jackson County jail, where he posted bond.

This incident follows a 2022 emergency protective order filed against Rondo by a woman, later dismissed as the parties reached an agreement.

In the protective order request, the woman alleged that Rondo had threatened her with a gun, expressing concerns for her children’s safety, citing a history of “volatile, erratic, [and] explosive behavior.”

Rondo, a veteran of 16 NBA seasons, last played for the Los Angeles Lakers and Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2021-22 season.

Throughout his career, he achieved four All-Star selections and secured two NBA championships. The recent legal issues add a controversial chapter to Rondo’s post-playing career, raising questions about his personal conduct off the court.
