Chicago Bulls forward Noah Vonleh has tested positive for COVID-19 and will be released by the team, according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.
Vonleh began his mandatory 10-day quarantine and is feeling “good overall.”
“Unfortunately, I have tested positive for COVID, and so my time with the Bulls has come to an end,” Vonleh said in a statement. “Thank you to the organization for everything. Though it was a short time, I appreciate the opportunity. I am thankfully feeling good, and I look forward to working my way to another NBA opportunity once I’m cleared to play again!”
NBA teams won’t be announcing which players test positive for COVID-19 throughout the season unless the player comes out and says otherwise, like Vonleh did.
Vonleh, 25, had a non-guaranteed contract and received a training camp invite with the Bulls.
The Bulls are already carrying 15 players on guaranteed contracts, so Vonleh wasn’t going to be on the roster when the regular season started.
In the last three years, Vonleh has spent time with the Portland Trail Blazers, Bulls, New York Knicks, Minnesota Timberwolves and Denver Nuggets.
He averaged 3.7 points and 3.4 rebounds per game in 36 games (10.5 minutes per game) for the Timberwolves and Nuggets last season.
