Partey to leave Arsenal as a free agent
Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey to Leave the London club as Free Agent
Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey is set to depart Arsenal as a free agent after failing to reach an agreement with the club on a new contract.
The midfielder, who joined the Gunners from Atletico Madrid in 2020, has scored nine goals in 167 appearances across all competitions.
Partey’s time at Arsenal has been disturbed by injuries, with the 2024/25 season being the only one in which he played more than 40 matches, totaling 52 appearances.
Arsenal has confirmed earlier this month that they were in discussions to extend Partey’s contract, but those talks have collapsed, making way for his exit.
Sources indicate that the 35-year-old has held discussions with Barcelona, while clubs in Saudi Arabia have also shown interest.
The Gunners have already planned for Partey’s departure, with Jorginho also leaving as a free agent this summer. Arsenal are close to finalizing the signing of Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi and have secured a deal for Brentford captain Christian Norgaard to bolster their midfield.
