Josh Giddey has been cleared of charges as Newport Beach police conclude their investigation into allegations of an improper relationship with an underage girl.

Newport Beach, California, police have decided not to pursue charges against Oklahoma City Thunder guard Josh Giddey following the closure of an investigation into allegations of an improper relationship with an underage girl.

The department’s statement, released Wednesday night, stated that after an extensive examination, they found no evidence to corroborate any criminal activity related to Mr. Giddey.

The allegations, which surfaced on social media in late November, were based on a now-deleted post by an anonymous user claiming a girl seen in videos and photos with Giddey was a high school junior at the time.

The Newport Beach police had initiated an investigation, actively seeking information and pursuing leads to establish the facts.

While the NBA was also looking into the matter, spokesperson Michael Bass confirmed awareness of the police findings, stating that the league is continuing its own review.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver previously noted in early December that the league’s investigation would defer to the Newport Beach police’s process, emphasizing cooperation with law enforcement.

Giddey, 21, has chosen not to comment on the allegations. Oklahoma City coach Mark Daigneault referred to the matter as a “personal issue” in late November, indicating the organization’s decision for Giddey to continue playing based on their assessment of the facts.

Giddey, despite facing boos in road games since the allegations emerged, maintains strong performance, averaging 11.8 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game for the 27-13 Thunder.
