Senegalese Winger Sadio Mane is set to miss their first World Cup game against Netherland.

Senegal have announced that Sadio Mane will miss the “first games” of the World Cup tournament with a leg injury.

Mane came into the tournament as an injury doubt after picking up an injury whilst playing for Bayern Munich earlier this month.

The Senegal board FA member Abdoulaye stated that the team will have to cope in the first game without the Bayern Munich player.

“We will have to rely on playing the first games without Sadio and win without Sadio because we have 25 players apart from Sadio,”  Abdoulaye Sow said.

“No one would have wanted it, but that’s what’s happened to us.”

Senegal play the Netherlands on November 21, then host nation Qatar four days later. The Africa Cup of Nations champions then face Ecuador on November 29 to end their group stage campaign.
