Super Eagles to face Ronaldo’s Portugal in Lisbon
The Super Eagles of Nigeria will face Portugal in a friendly match in Lisbon after missing out on World cup qualification.
The Nigerian Super Eagles will prepare to face Portuguese national team in a friendly match in Lisbon.
An agreement has been reached by the Nigeria Football Federation and Federação Portuguesa de Futebol for the Super Eagles and A Seleção to clash in a prestige senior team friendly at the Estádio José Alvalade in Lisbon on Thursday, 17th November.
The encounter with Portugal is another chance for the Super Eagles to play against high European national team.
Before now, the Super Eagles have played against five-time world champions Brazil, Argentina, England, Ukraine, Mexico, Serbia, Poland and Czech Republic.
The match with Portugal will be the first clash at senior men level for both countries, although the Super Falcons faced the Senior Women Team of Portugal and played a 3-3 draw in the USWNT Summer Series in Houston, Texas, USA.
Portugal’s U20 boys defeated Nigeria’s U20 boys 2-0 in the final of the FIFA World Youth Championship (now FIFA U20 World Cup finals) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Portugal will be led by five-time Ballon d’Or winner and Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo, one of the best footballers and good goal scorer in the world.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Super Eagles will miss the World cup after the team didn’t qualify against Ghana at the Abuja stadium.
