Barcelona are preparing to take legal action on Atletico Madrid over Antoine Griezmann loan deal.

Spanish club Barcelona are ready to take legal action on fellow La Liga club Atletico Madrid over Antoine Griezmann loan deal.

The French international joined his former club Atletico Madrid on a loan deal in 2021 and is still playing for the club this season.

Griezmann has been impressive under Diego Simone and has scored 33 goals in 257 games in his first spell at the Metropolitano.

According to reports on Spanish new outlet Marca, Atletico Madrid  can expect legal action over the deal, as Barcelona feel that Griezmann has met the £35million buyout clause in his contract by playing 81 per cent of the minutes he was available last season, more than the 50 per cent needed to trigger the clause.

Barcelona feel this means the Frenchman is an Atleti player, and that they should be paid accordingly.

Ateltico refute this, as they interpret the contract as being across two years. Griezmann is being used as a substitute in games by Simone as he being brought on after the 60th minute with the clause in mind.

Despite the drama between the two La Liga team Griezmann has been phenomenal for the club scoring a late minute goal against Porto in the Champions League.

They currently sit third in the league, and will next be in action against Celta Vigo on Saturday in the La Liga.
