Bellingham Praises New “Freedom” Under Mourinho as Real Madrid Beat Málaga 4-0
Jude Bellingham expressed his delight with the tactical freedom granted to him by manager José Mourinho after inspiring Real Madrid to a comfortable 4-0 victory over Málaga at the Santiago Bernabéu on Sunday.
The England star opened the scoring in the 19th minute with a low finish from the right before playing a crucial role in Madrid’s second when his goalbound header forced an own goal. Further goals sealed the win, extending Real Madrid’s perfect start to the LaLiga season with three victories from three matches.
Speaking after the game, Bellingham explained that having the license to move freely across the pitch without being pinned into deep defensive wide areas has brought out his best football, adding that he is thoroughly enjoying his modified role under the new management. Mourinho praised Bellingham’s elite mindset and work rate, firmly dismissing lingering media speculation that his star-studded attacking lineup is incompatible on the pitch.
Despite the dominant scoreline, Bellingham admitted his frustration with the team’s display in the final 20 minutes, noting that Madrid lost control late in the match.
However, the midfielder still received a standing ovation from the Bernabéu crowd when he was substituted in the 87th minute. The victory leaves Real Madrid in fine form as Mourinho continues to integrate key squad rotations early in the campaign.
