Ten Hag: Man Utd progressing in striker pursuit
Manchester United’s pursuit of a new striker has taken a positive turn, according to Erik ten Hag, as the club aims to address their pressing need for attacking reinforcements.
Erik ten Hag has expressed optimism about Manchester United’s progress in their search for a new striker.
Having faced a shortage of forwards in his debut season at Old Trafford, the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo amid controversy and the loan move for Wout Weghorst in January underscored the pressing need for attacking reinforcements.
During the current transfer window, the Red Devils have already secured the signings of midfielder Mason Mount and goalkeeper Andre Onana. However, their focus remains on acquiring a top-class striker, with emerging talent Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta being a primary target.
While Manchester United is reportedly willing to offer up to £60 million for the Danish international, they are also considering Randal Kolo Muani from Frankfurt as a potential alternative option. The club is determined to bolster their attacking options ahead of the upcoming season.
“We make progress, yeah” Ten Hag said when asked about United’s pursuit of a striker.
“But you know how it works – when we have him, we will tell you directly.
“The only thing I can say is we do everything that’s in our power to get that done.
“If it was up to me, yeah, as soon as possible. The earlier the better because we have to integrate him in the team, the way of play.
“In an ideal situation, he was already here but you do not always get ideal situations as a manager and you have to deal with the situation.”
