Leandro Trossard made a compelling case for a starting role at Arsenal, scoring just two minutes after coming on in their 2-0 win over Aston Villa.

Leandro Trossard made an immediate impact for Arsenal in their 2-0 victory over Aston Villa, scoring just two minutes after being introduced as a substitute.

The Belgian forward has been confined to the bench in Arsenal’s first two Premier League matches, with Mikel Arteta opting for Gabriel Martinelli in the starting lineup.

However, Martinelli’s underwhelming performances have led to growing calls from fans for Trossard to be given more opportunities.

Trossard, who netted 17 goals across all competitions last season, showcased his goal-scoring prowess by coolly slotting the ball into the bottom left corner in the 67th minute.

His precise finish not only doubled Arsenal’s lead but also underscored his value to the team.

Interestingly, Trossard’s celebration was notably subdued. Instead of running towards the away fans to celebrate, the 29-year-old chose to remain calm as his teammates surrounded him.

This muted reaction has sparked speculation among Gunners supporters, who believe it was a subtle message to Arteta—suggesting that Trossard feels he deserves a more prominent role in the team.

With Arsenal looking to mount a serious challenge for the Premier League title, Arteta may have to reconsider his lineup choices.

Trossard’s instant impact at Villa Park could very well force the manager’s hand, as the Belgian forward continues to make a strong case for a regular starting spot ahead of Martinelli.
