Wizards to avoid playing Russell Westbrook in sets of back-to-back games
Russell Westbrook will not play in back-to-back games in the upcoming season Scott Brooks told reporters Sunday, according to Chase Hughes of NBC Sports Washington.
The Wizards are going to protect their star from potential injuries. The 32-years old explosive point guard is extremely durable, but has undergone several surgeries on his right knee.
Washington acquired Westbrook from Houston for longtime Wizards guard John Wall and a future first-round pick. He averaged 27.2 points, 7.9 boards, and seven assists across 57 appearances for the Rockets last season.
Westbrook has three more years in his contract worth $131 million. The Wizards will have to prevent any serious injuries with the 2016 MVP being in his early thirties.
The veteran superstar has yet to make his debut with his new team.
