Ziyech and Kante set to miss Crystal Palace.
Hakim Ziyech and N’golo Kante set to miss Crystal Palace game.
Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that Hakim Ziyech will miss Crystal Palace as N’golo Kante remains a doubt.
The Blues will host Crystal Palace in the first Premier League game of the season.
While speaking with the media ahead of the game Tuchel confirmed that Moroccan Hakim Ziyech will not feature in the game.
Hakim Ziyech picked up a shoulder injury in the game against Villarreal in the Super cup.
“Hakim will miss the game tomorrow for sure because of his injury,” confirmed Tuchel at his pre-match press conference.
“The decision has been made to treat the injury conservatively and give him as much time as he needs to get back to the level he was showing in pre-season.
“We don’t need to consider surgery, which is very good news and we hope he can be back on the pitch in the next few weeks.”
The German spoke further on French player N’golo Kante as he also suffered injury in the super cup.
He further stated that he will be assess before he makes the team selection against Crystal Palace.
“We have not made our decisions yet, we will take our time and we will discuss with the medical department who we can push to play another 90 minutes.
“I think that playing 120 minutes in the Super Cup was the worst thing for us, physically but mentally and psychology, it was the best because winning a penalty shootout gave us a huge boost of positive energy and feelings.”
Meanwhile, Sportscliffs.com reported that Thomas Tuchel is excited with the addition of Romelu Lukaku.
The German stated that they will benefit from the strength, speed and experience of the Belgian.
