Bayer Leverkusen Striker Victor Boniface Involved in Car Accident Following Victory Over Eintracht Frankfurt.

Bayer Leverkusen’s striker Victor Boniface was involved in a car accident on Sunday, shortly after his team’s 2-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga. The Nigeria international, who scored the winning goal in the 72nd minute of Saturday’s match, shared now-deleted images and videos of a damaged vehicle on his Instagram account, including a picture showing his hand covered in blood.

According to a club source who spoke with Reuters, Boniface is recovering well after the incident. German tabloid *Bild* reported that the 23-year-old was a passenger in the car, which was en route to Frankfurt airport at the time of the accident. He sustained minor injuries to his hand and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The Hessen state police released a statement detailing the accident. A 28-year-old driver of a Mercedes, traveling in the middle of three lanes, reportedly lost control of the vehicle due to fatigue. The car collided with a truck in the right lane, causing significant damage. Boniface was reportedly unharmed apart from the hand injury.

Boniface later posted on X (formerly Twitter), reassuring fans with the message, “God is the greatest.”

Boniface has been in excellent form this season, scoring seven goals in 10 appearances across all competitions for Leverkusen. Despite the accident, Leverkusen, currently fourth in the Bundesliga standings with 14 points from seven games, are set to face French side Brest in the Champions League on Wednesday.

“A 28-year-old was driving a Mercedes in the middle of three lanes in the direction of Frankfurt when, according to his own account, he lost control of the vehicle due to fatigue and collided sideways with a truck that was driving in the right lane next to the Mercedes,” the report said.

Leverkusen and Boniface’s management agency have not yet responded to media inquiries regarding the incident.
