Florentino Perez insist the Super League plan is not dead despite the Withdrawal of teams from the proposed competition, he said that one of the Premier League team was not convince about the project and it became contagious.

Real Madrid President Florentino Perez has stated that the Super League plan is not dead despite withdrawal of teams from the project.

The plan for the League failed when Chelsea and Manchester City due to criticism from fans, UEFA and the Premier League.

Perez while speaking with the Spanish radio show El Larguero stated that: “If anyone thinks the Super League is dead, are they wrong? Absolutely.

“We’re going to keep working and what everyone thinks is for the best will emerge.

“The project is on standby. The Super League still exists.”

The big six in the Premier League all withdrew from the League and Real Madrid president said he was disappointed with their decision.

He further explains that they have been planning it for three years and one of the big six in the premier league was not interested and it became contagious.

He also said they all signed a binding contract but admits that they were never convinced of the project.

The English, Spanish, Italian FAs and UEFA threatened the teams involved from expulsion from the league and also ban their players from representing their countries.

Perez said the league is not dead but it has been placed on hold for the now.
