Alonso: Pointing at badge is better.
Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso says that pointing at the badge will send an effective message than taking a knee.
Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso stated that pointing at the ‘No room for Racism badge is better than taking a knee as it will send an effective message.
The Spaniard says that the taking of knee ritual before the game is losing the effect of the message they are passing.
He added that he is against racism and he wants it to stop but pointing at the badge would be better.
Alonso said: “I am fully against racism and every type of discrimination. I just prefer to put my finger to the badge where it says no to racism, like they do in other sports and football in other countries.
“Maybe it’s losing a bit of strength the other way, so I just prefer to do it this way and to show I am fully supportive.”
Alonso believes that when he shares this with his team mate they should have a problem with the idea: “We haven’t talked about it. We are like a family.
“I have a very good relationship with everyone. If I have to speak to anyone I will say the same as I told you and I don’t think there will be any problems.”
