De Bruyne hails wonderful night at Wolves
A wonderful performance from Kevin De Bruyne earned him four goals against Wolves as they now have an advantage in the Premier League.
Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne hails a wonderful night at Wolves following their 5-1 victory in the Premier League.
The Premier League race continues as the Etihad side move three points above fellow League contender Liverpool.
De Bruyne put on a masterclass display last night by scoring 4 goals in the game after a hattrick in the first half.
While speaking with BBC Sports after the victory De Bruyne said: “It was a great start from the team and myself. I thought we played a good game away so I’m very happy with the team.
“I try to understand the situation better. If my team makes the movements I try and find them. The connection with the team has been exceptional and that’s why I love playing with them.
“We alternated really well. Whenever Bernardo Silva or Phil Foden was going into the space, we went vice versa. Whenever we had opportunities in the first half we scored and that changed the dynamic of the game.”
The Belgian told Sky Sports: “It was pretty nice. When you score four goals it is always something special. It should have been five to be honest but I think we played well.
“We could have scored even more and to do that against a Wolves team who are defensively sound was really impressive.”
Speaking after the game, Guardiola said: “He made quite often in the last this season especially in the second half he has made similar displays today but today he scored four goals. Unstoppable, brilliant, awesome outstanding, perfect.
“He had the ability to create the special things.
“Always we push him to say he is incredible player, generous with assists but he has to score goals and this season is the most prolific he has had since we are together.”
Wolves first-team coach Carlos Cachada: “When you have players like De Bruyne, who can always change the game, you can have a strategy but when it comes to players like this they can score four goals and finish the game.
“With that performance we can do nothing about it.
“We had a good response to the first goal. Suddenly they scored two goals quite quickly and we lost a bit. We tried all the time to come back, we can’t so this is the final result.
“We look game by game. We will try to collect as much points as we can. We have six points to fight for.
“We always tried to be a threat to the other team, even when we were losing.”
